endrin-a highly toxic, chlorinated hydrocarbon, C 12 H 8 OCl 6 , formerlyused as an insecticide.
toxaphene-an amber, waxy, water-insoluble solid, whose principal constituent ischlorinated camphene, used as an insecticide and as a rodenticide.
heptachlor-A white or tan powder used as a pesticide. Because it is highly toxicto humans and is a suspected carcinogen, its use has been largely discontinued. Chemical formula: C 10 H 5 Cl 7 .
copepods-any of numerous tiny marine or freshwater crustaceans of the order(or subclass) Copepoda, lacking compound eyes or a carapace and usually having six pairs of limbs on the thorax, some abundant in plankton and others parasitic on fish.
hitchhiked-to travel by standing on the side of the road and soliciting rides from passing vehicles.

It is always helpful and useful to have the definition to these certain vocabulary words because it helps us (reader) comprehend the text more in depth. This also helps with the understanding of the message the text is trying to communicate because if we skip some words that we do not get, we might be missing the whole point of it. Therefore, the vocabulary words and all of those words we don't understand we should look for its meaning and not take them for granted.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sabrina in the fact that the list of vocabulary words is extremely helpful in reading the book. It is useless to read the book if the meaning of the words are unknown.
ReplyDeleteI think that a good word to add to the list is methoxychlor. Its definition is:

Another word that is good to add to the list is magnitude. Its definition is:
